Africa agency line
Principals who nominate Maingate Shipping for a call at Douala, Walvis Bay or Port Sudan expect the same standard they get at Mombasa. We deliver it through sub-agency partners: established port agents at each African port who attend the call under our instruction, report in our format and settle through our desk.

This is a partnership with a defined shape. The partner keeps its own name and its own relationships at the port; Maingate brings the principal, the instruction and the coordination, and stands behind the service to the principal.
The nomination and the principal's instructions, the proforma DA format and the reporting templates, advance funding where the call requires it, a single point of contact for the master and the principal, and prompt settlement of the partner's account on the agreed terms.

Attendance at the call by a boarding officer, port and authority formalities, the local services the call needs, daily reports in the agreed format, a final account with receipts, and the local knowledge that keeps the vessel's time in hand.

A sub-agency agreement covering scope, reporting, settlement and confidentiality; a port profile the partner completes so that Maingate can answer principals' questions before a nomination; and a first call handled together so that both sides know how the other works.

This desk is part of Maingate Shipping Limited, the Mombasa ship agency, crewing and brokerage house that has attended vessels at Kenyan ports since 2020 from its office at Express Building, Moi Avenue. Port agency at Mombasa and Lamu is handled by the company's own boarding officers; calls elsewhere in Africa run through the Maingate agency line under one DA format and one reporting style; Kenyan seafarers are recruited and managed from the same office; and the chartering desk fixes the tonnage that brings East Africa its wheat, fertilizer, clinker and fuel.
Principals deal with one desk for the whole voyage, and every service is agreed in writing before it is performed.

Every commercial port in Africa where we do not yet have a partner, with priority for the ports our principals ask about most.
No. Partners keep their own principals; the agreement covers the calls Maingate instructs.
On the terms in the agreement, against the partner's final account with receipts, through bank transfer to the partner's account.
Receipts behind every line, a record behind every stoppage, a desk behind every call.
Related desks on the same instruction line.
