Partnerships
Maingate Shipping grows through the companies it works with: the owners and managers who nominate us at Kenyan ports, the agents at other African ports who attend calls under our instruction, the crewing agencies who draw on Kenyan seafarers, the P&I clubs and correspondents who need a reliable pair of hands at Mombasa, and the bunker suppliers and traders who need an agent at the anchorage.

Each of these relationships is set out in writing, with the responsibilities, the reporting and the commercial terms agreed before the first call. This desk explains how each partnership works and what a partner can expect from us.
A standing agency agreement covers every call at Kenyan ports and the coordination of calls elsewhere in Africa: proforma disbursement accounts to an agreed format, a named boarding officer for each call, daily reporting and final accounts with every receipt. The agreement is renewed on performance, not on habit.

Agents who attend calls at their port under Maingate's instruction join our Africa agency line. We bring the principal and the instruction; the partner brings the local attendance. Reporting formats, DA standards and settlement terms are agreed once and applied to every call.

Crewing agencies abroad recruit Kenyan seafarers through our Mombasa desk. P&I clubs and their correspondents use us for attendance, guarantees and crew cases at Mombasa. Bunker suppliers and traders appoint us as agent for supply operations at the anchorage and at berth.

Maingate Shipping Limited, Mombasa: ship agents at Kenyan ports since 2020, crew managers and recruiters of Kenyan seafarers, ship brokers for the East African trades, and the coordinating desk for port calls across Africa. The office at Express Building on Moi Avenue is a short drive from Kilindini Harbour and Moi International Airport, which is why crew, spares and cash reach vessels at Mombasa without a wasted hour.
The company works for owners, charterers, managers, traders, lines, clubs and fleets, and puts its terms, its DAs and its reports in writing.

Send the desk a note of what you need from Mombasa or from an African port, and we reply with a proposed agreement and the terms.
