Managers and owners with vessels trading to East Africa regularly do not want to appoint an agent from scratch for each call. A standing agency agreement with Maingate Shipping covers every call at Mombasa and Lamu and the coordination of calls at other African ports, on terms agreed once and applied every time.
The agreement sets the agency fee, the proforma DA format, the advance funding arrangement, the reporting schedule and the service scope, and gives the manager a named contact who knows the fleet.
Port agency at Kenyan ports for cargo calls, bunker calls and crew changes; protective agency where the charterer appoints the cargo agent; crew management and documentation for the fleet's seafarers where required; and coordination of calls elsewhere in Africa through our sub-agency partners.
