Morocco has two very different major ports: Casablanca for grain, general cargo and phosphate trade, and Tanger Med on the Strait of Gibraltar, the largest container port in Africa and a car export and bunkering hub.

Maingate Shipping Limited coordinates ship agency across Morocco for owners, charterers, managers, traders and lines. The trade through Moroccan ports is phosphates, fertilizer, vehicles and agricultural products outbound; wheat, fuel, steel and containers inbound. The Moroccan interior, with Tanger Med serving transshipment across three continents.
Formalities: the national ports agency and the Tanger Med port authority. The desk works with them on every call and keeps the principal clear of the detail unless the detail matters.
Operational note for Morocco: bunker-only and crew change calls at Tanger Med are routine, and Casablanca's grain season fills the silo berths.
Each port has its own desk with the terminals, the cargo and the services a call needs.
Morocco's ports are Casablanca, Tanger Med, Jorf Lasfar. Casablanca handles wheat and other grains, containers, steel, fuel and general cargo inbound, with phosphates and fertilizer products loading here and at the coastal terminals through the container terminals, the grain silos and bulk berths, the general cargo quays and the cruise and ferry berths. Tanger Med handles transshipment containers, new vehicles, petroleum products and general cargo through the container terminals, the vehicle terminal serving the Tangier car plants, the hydrocarbon terminal, the bulk quay and the passenger and ro-ro port.
Calls at each port are attended by our partner agent there under Maingate's instruction, with the Mombasa desk issuing the proforma DA, tracking the call and closing the account.

Much of what lands in Morocco is going somewhere else: the Moroccan interior, with Tanger Med serving transshipment across three continents. The receiver's clearing agent, the transit bond, the delivery order and the truck or wagon are as much part of the call as the crane, and the desk keeps them moving with the discharge.
Documents follow the cargo inland; quantities are reconciled at the quay before the vessel sails.

Every Moroccan call touches the same authorities: the national ports agency and the Tanger Med port authority. Filing ahead, in the format each expects, is what keeps a vessel from waiting at anchor for a stamp.
Reports to the principal follow one style at every port: pre-arrival, daily, departure with the statement of facts, then the final DA.

Husbandry in Morocco is planned port by port: bunker-only and crew change calls at Tanger Med are routine, and Casablanca's grain season fills the silo berths. The desk chooses the port for the crew change, the stem and the spares with the itinerary in view and tells the principal at nomination.
Protecting agency for owners runs alongside the charterer's agent where the charter party gives the charterer the appointment.

Casablanca, Tanger Med, Jorf Lasfar are covered with their own desks; other ports and anchorages are handled on request.
Our partner agent at each port, appointed and instructed by Maingate Shipping; the Mombasa desk coordinates and is responsible to the principal.
