Vessels must land garbage, sludge, waste oil and slops under the MARPOL rules and the port's own procedures, and a port state inspector will ask to see the receipts. The service is planned with the call so that the barge or the truck arrives when the vessel can work it, and nothing is held for a waste that was not declared.
Landing by truck at berth or by launch at anchorage, segregated as the vessel's garbage management plan requires, with the contractor's receipt entered in the garbage record book.
